Balazuc

The old fortress of the Lords of Balazuc was built on a cliff above the Ardèche. From there, you will discover the medieval heritage of the village.
Places to see:
The winding lanes, the vaults and the famous cave of ‘la Fachinière’
The Roman Church Sainte Madeleine where the association ‘la Roche Haute’ organises concerts and painting exhibitions during the summer
Queen Jeanne's Tower provides a viewpoint above the village.
The sarcophagus is a replica of a Gallo-Roman sarcophagus found in the 'hameau des Salles' and now exhibited in the Museum of Gallo-Roman Civilization in Lyon.
In the square tower you will find an Information Point during the summer.
The small picturesque village ‘Viel Audon’: after a 15mn walk along the Ardèche, you will get to the farm. Young voluntaries have come to restore these ruins for 35 years and gave a new breathe to this place which had been abandoned for more than one century. A shop is open all year and sells products of the Viel Audon’s farm such as goat cheese, plant syrups and salts, honey…
Do not miss the walk with a storyteller during the summer.
