Chauzon

This small stone village and its winding lanes were built atop a rocky hill on the right bank of the Ardèche. To get to Chauzon, you will go over an interesting stone bridge situated next to the amphitheatre of Gens, one of the natural wonders of Ardèche. The river carved out these beautiful meanders in the limestone cliffs. The amphitheatre is a famous rock-climbing spot.
The many mulberry trees are the heritage of a wealthy silk farming industry. At that time, silkworms were reared inside the big houses of Chauzon in a special room called the ‘magnanerie’.
From the north of the village, you can walk along the river to get to a panoramic viewpoint called the ‘belvédère des Aulagniers’ and reach the ‘plateau des Gras’.
